Company Awards $60,000 in College Scholarships
BOCA RATON, FLA. (PRWEB) AUGUST 13, 2018
Vertical Bridge, the nation’s largest private owner and manager of communication infrastructure, ended the second quarter with two successful philanthropic initiatives: Honoring, Inspiring & Celebrating our Military, an event for active and retired military personnel, and the awarding of $60,000 in college scholarships. Both initiatives were organized by the company’s philanthropic arm, the Vertical Bridge Charitable Network (VBCN), as part of Vertical Bridge’s ongoing commitment to give back to the community.
Honoring, Inspiring & Celebrating Our Military took place at the firm’s annual meeting in Orlando, Florida. Active and retired members of the U.S. military, Florida public service officers and families were invited to hear New York Times bestselling author and retired United States Army Staff Sergeant Travis Mills of the 82nd Airborne give an inspirational speech and enjoy an afternoon of games, raffles, food and fun. Over 160 Vertical Bridge employees volunteered throughout the afternoon, helping to coordinate and host the event.
In coordination with the event, VBCN also made private donations to several organizations dedicated to helping and supporting military personnel including Operation Homefront and The Travis Mills Foundation.
“It has become tradition to end our annual meeting with a philanthropic initiative, and it has truly developed into VBCN’s signature event each year. It’s amazing to see our entire team work together to give back to a deserving cause,” said Alex Gellman, CEO and co-founder of Vertical Bridge. “This year’s focus on supporting our troops − both active and retired − along with the opportunity to hear from Travis Mills, who has an incredible story, was especially rewarding.”
VBCN also recently announced the recipients of its annual college scholarship program. The scholarships, which this year totaled $60,000, were awarded to high school seniors and enrolled college students who maintained above a 2.75 GPA, were active in their community, showed an interest in technology and submitted a comprehensive essay about their goals or work.
VBCN will donate more than $1.1 million to organizations chosen by Vertical Bridge employees by the end of 2018, bringing its cumulative donations to over $3 million since its inception in 2014.
